The Valencia Stool by Patricia Urquiola for Andreu World was created as a fundraising piece to support communities in Valencia affected by the DANA of October 2024, the region where Andreu World was first established. Its irregular, eroded form mirrors the destructive force of rushing water, while the interwoven texture symbolizes the resilience and solidarity of Valencians in the face of hardship. Crafted entirely from biodegradable and compostable materials, the stool reflects a commitment to sustainability. In this way, the Valencia Stool connects design with environmental, social, and economic dimensions of impact.

HOIOH creates sustainably sourced, long-lasting plywood furniture with a strong focus on mindful consumption and timeless design. 

The The IN stackable stool by HOIOH Design picked up a Silver Delta ADI award in Barcelona back in 2020, and then an iF Design award the year after, in 2021. 

Each stool set includes two stools that cleverly interlock to form a closed box. Even more thoughtful, the smaller set nests neatly inside the larger one, saving space and reducing waste.

The company also pays close attention to packaging. Products arrive in recycled cardboard boxes with minimal filler, and when additional materials are unavoidable, they opt for sustainable alternatives. Instead of bulky paper instruction sheets, they provide a small recycled card with a QR code for easy digital assembly directions, cutting down on single-use paper.

The essence of sustainable design is engaging with a piece mindfully and building a unique relationship with it… While we all love a good IKEA find, sometimes we need something more personal and connected to us, something that becomes a part of our home and makes us know we are at home.
